Andrew McCarthy leads as an undergrad who returns to LA to discover his best friend and ex-girlfriend leading a vapid, debt-ridden lifestyle that threatens to draw him in. Best feature is James Spader as a creepily reasonable drug-dealer.

2 stars (Good Try) A story line that has been filmed several times. The acting of Andrew McCarthy and Jami Gertz deteriorates as the drama increases. Spader and Downey are fine. ~Tubbs
