Aroview: Russ Meyer’s most famous film is the ultimate “fast cars, fast women” fantasy about three go-go dancers who find trouble in the desert when they are challenged by ‘squares’ to a race in their convertible Porsche.
While sexually tame, this barely represses its carnal energy, due in large part to the formidable figure of Tura Sutana as pack-leader Varla, a fierce creature who redefines the term ‘Amazonian’. Though it only partly lives up to its sensational title, this is an arousing combo of Meyer’s statuesque she-devils, underground 60s chic and stark, black-and-white styling – an “all-time favourite” of trash king John Waters.

3 stars (Good Enough) This is a classic B-grade roadie about a team of deadly fast women who sure know how to handle themselves. Tarantino was no doubt heavily 'inspired' by this one for his own 'Death Proof'. ~Tom H

3 stars (Good Enough) A tour-de-force of camp and seediness that's too much fun to feel guilty about watching. Great characters and a surprisingly gritty storyline, this is more than just a celebration of breasts. But there's a lot of that, too. ~Pop&Coffee
