Nowhere to Hide
Aroview: An irreverent pastiche of seemingly every violent cop flick ever made, this hysterical, hyper-kinetic Korean action movie throws up every visual trick onto the screen to hilarious (if not always intentional) effect.
Controversial for its casual depiction of police brutality, a pair of renegade cops tirelessly punch, kick and chase their way up a hierarchy of murderous gangsters, essentially sustaining a series of chase and fight sequences driven by a pulsating electro-metal score (think John Woo meets Run Lola Run!). With a bare-bones plot and action choreography, this plays like a movie mostly created in the editing room, and while not the great movie it could have been, it’s a dizzying slab of faux-art that should be seen for its shameless abandon and sheer juvenile audacity.
