Some Came Running
Aroview: Frank Sinatra gives an affecting, lowkey performance as soldier returning from WW2 to pick up his writing career again.
Effective representation of the traps of post-war life in smalltown America from the novel by James Jones. Particularly memorable is Maclaine (in an Oscar-winning role) and Elmer Berstein's score.

2 stars (Good Try) Shirley Maclaine's performance and her character are head and shoulders above everybody and everything else. She lights up this otherwise stodgy dragging screenplay. ~Tubbs
