Aro Recommended Ella Fitzgerald - Something to Live For

USA 1999, 86 minutes
Dir. Charlotte Zwerin
Rating: [Exempt]
Genres: Music, Documentary / Jazz & Blues

Aroview: A modest and carefully selected musical 'album' of jazz singer Fitzgerald's greatest years.

Not really biographical in its focus, this concentrates squarely on the music, with great concert performances from Denmark, France, Germany, and the US. As impressive are various TV clips, dueting with Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Mel Torme, Dinah Shore and Joan Sutherland, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Frank Sinatra. Also features interviews with Andre Previn and others.
