My Little Eye
Aroview: Deftly exploiting the sinister recesses of both reality television and web technology, this innovative, edgy horror-thriller spies on the five youth participants of a web-cast event that confines them to six months in a spooky house in the middle-of-nowhere. The catch is that should any of them leave, they all forfeit the million dollar prize.
The script is lean, mean and considered enough to plot out a (mostly) plausible scenario, the actors are all likeable without being sympathetic, but it’s the direction that finds new modes of expression – Marc Evans builds a uniquely creepy atmosphere through a range of web-cam devices (auto-pans, zooms, focus), ‘night-vision’ photography, and unconventional sound (courtesy of famed indie music producers Flood and Alan Moulder).
