Girl on a Motorcycle
Aroview: Straight out of the late 60s ethos of freedom, rebellion, psychedelics and women’s liberation, a leather-clad Marianne Faithful speeds away from her staid marriage on a Norton motorcycle to reunite with her lover (Alain Delon).
Through voiceover and flashback, she reflects on her romantic history and its implications, serving as a provocative tract on the institution of marriage and the alternative of ‘free love’. Imaginatively shot and directed by renowned cinematographer Jack Cardiff, the open roads and European interiors are distinctly 'continental cool'.
