I'm Going Home
Aroview: Calmly balanced between drama and sly comedy, this excursion into the trials and experiences of old age, is a late tour-de-force by the 92-year old Portuguese dir. de Oliveira.
Piccoli plays an aging stage thespian who is cut adrift by the death of his wife, daughter and son-in-law. Life treading the boards continues in a variety of stageplays, while he is simultaneously tempted into an absurd film production of Joyce's "Ulysses" being 'directed by' John Malkovich. A dryly witty delight.
