Prisoner of Paradise
Aroview: Justly acclaimed examination of an unusual chapter in the Holocaust, in which the Dutch-Jewish comic actor Kurt Gerron was forced to make a film by the Nazis depicting the Theresienstadt concentration camp as a utopian Jewish community.
Interviews with survivors and other witnesses paint a portrait of a quasi-collaborator - damned by some survivors, grudgingly admired by others - who nonetheless ended up in the gas chambers with the entire of 'cast' of his film. Gerron was probably best known for his role in THE BLUE ANGEL.
