Game Over
Aroview: Interesting examination of the 1997 chessmatch between world champion Gary Kasparov and IBM's 'Deep Blue' supercomputer, which ended in a controversial victory for machine 'intelligence'.
After twice beating IBM's computers (in 1989 and 1996), Kasparov was confident of victory, but was stunningly unsettled by 'Deep Blue's quasi-human matchplay. Delving into the possibility that there was some human input into the computer's moves, the filmmakers raise the question of whether the match was merely a publicity stunt for IBM, while also thoughtfully portraying Kasparov's complex personality.
