Aroview: This latterday Christmas favourite has a man (Ferrell) who has been raised as one of Santa's elves leaving the North Pole and heading out in search of his roots.

Tracking his father (Caan) to New York, he is dazzled by the locals, but also makes an impression with his expert toy-making skills. Mostly succeeds as a string of absurd sight gags, lit by a cheery yuletide glow.

3 stars (Good Enough) An Elf on a mission to find his father, who happens to be anything but fatherly towards a fully-grown man in tights claiming to be from the North Pole. Some genuinely funny moments, amongst all the silliness. ~GenXGirl
