Life and Debt
Aroview: A scathingly political look at the "new world order" from the point of view of Jamaican workers and farmers, as well as government and policy officials.
Criticizing the "restructuring" policies that have crippled Jamaica's efforts toward self-reliance, the film portrays the relationship between poverty and the practices of international lending agencies while driving home the devastating consequences of globalization. A dynamic reggae soundtrack and the cultural and scenic beauty provide welcome respite.

5 stars (Exceptional) Jamaican economy & infrastructure crippled by US govt thru "cheap" IMF loans, backed by multinationals (Dole, Del Monte). French islands like Martinique, Guadalupe & Reunion are part of France to get EU loans, but Jamaica is a victim of globalisation. ~Sandy
