Spongebob Squarepants Movie, The

Aroview: Excellent big-screen version of Nickolodeon's most celebrated cartoon TV series, set in a cheerfully off-colour undersea world, where a talking sponge and starfish sidekick battle the nefarious industrial espionage of the evil 'Plankton' and attempt to impress King Neptune.

Full of irresponsible gags, oddball touches and winks to the audience (both child and adult), this proves a refreshingly original alternative to the hi-tech creations of Pixar and Dreamworks, all animated in glorious 2-D. Voices include Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Bill Fagerbakke, Scarlett Johannson, Alec Baldwin and Jeffrey Tambor, although to his credit David Hasselhoff puts in an actual appearance.
