War Photographer
Aroview: A clear-minded documentary on acclaimed war-photographer James Nachtwey, who began his career in 1980s on the battlefields of the Third World, going on to cover human calamities in Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Indonesia and Palestine.
Despite the clarity of his motives, Nachtwey himself is a difficult subject to fathom due to his reticence, and one of the filmmaker's interesting tactics is to attach a tiny camera to Nachtwey's still-camera in order to follow the action as he works. Filled with some horrifying images of its own, the film summons up its own paradoxes on the artisitc exploitation of suffering.
