Brakhage
Aroview: Conventional, though enlightening portrait of experimental film maverick Stan Brakhage, whose work consistently pushed the boundaries of the medium into unusual techniques and levels of visual abstraction.
Perhaps most famous in this regard is 'Mothlight', where he stuck leaves and butterflies directly onto the film celluloid. Utilising a range of interviews and pieces of archival home footage, this is well-rounded work, delving equally into personal life and theoretical matters.
