Cellular
Aroview: Interesting abduction thriller leads with a premise that has flaky beachbum Evans rung on his cellphone with a chilling message from a kidnap victim (Basinger) trying to save her family from getting the chop.
Developed with slightly silly, but breakneck plotting by Larry Cohen (writer of PHONE BOOTH), this manages to be credible enough to retain its grip as Evans races across traffic-jammed L.A. trying to save the day. Macy also impresses as a policeman who stumbles into the scenario.

3 stars (Good Enough) A film with an interesting premise that goes just a little too far at times, but keeps the story interesting. Note: this is straight-to-DVD-grade entertainment rather than classic viewing. ~Tom H
2 stars (Good Try) Evans is miscast but there is nothing wrong with the casting of the rest of the leads. The screenplay is an entertaining time filler at best. ~Tubbs
