Night of the Lepus

USA 1972, 88 minutes
Dir. William Claxton
Genres: Science Fiction, Horror / Animal Amok

Aroview: One of the most incredibly lame (and strange and entertaining) horror films of all time, in which giant mutant rabbits terrorize a small community in the American Southwest.

In an effort to stamp out the plague of cuddly-looking creatures who are destroying farmland in the area, scientists inject them with hormones, but instead produce 150-pound carnivorous bunnies who take no prisoners. Although the filmmakers believed the tale of big-rabbits-run-amok might prove actually frightening, they instead produced one of the best laugh-fests of the 1970s. You'd have to be hopping mad to miss it!
