Aroview: Australian war reporter George Gittoes turns his attention to urban combat in Brownsville, Miami, where four brothers – one having just returned from Iraq – struggle to survive in a ‘hood plagued by drugs, vendettas, and a never ending cycle of violence.

In exposing the grim underbelly of the ‘gangster’s paradise’ glorified in hip hop and rap, Gittoes presents a domestic war on the home front alarmingly ignored by a country obsessed with conflict in the Middle East. Despite its ultimately tragic trajectory, the documentary also encompasses Gittoes’ musical interests through the galvanizing street rhyming of Brownsville’s residents.
