Aroview: Hot on the heels of BLAIR WITCH cohort Ed Sanchez’s ALTERED, dir. Myrick tackles the frightening hysteria of cults, where two paramedics are caught up in the final hours of a JONESTOWN-esque massacre.

Aiming for the slow-burning psychological horror of Myrick’s famous smash-hit and armed with an interesting premise, there is a lot of talking and self-reflecting as the characters hurtle towards self-destruction. A creepy tone can’t disguise the horror-by-numbers nature of the plot, but the ending may surprise those looking to switch off their brains and let the movie take control.
