Luck (TV Series)

Aroview: Heavy-hitting HBO crime drama centred on the deal-makers who frequent a popular Los Angeles racetrack - principally, an aging mobster (Dustin Hoffman) whose stake in a champion thoroughbred hides ulterior motives.

Created by DEADWOOD's David Milch, this deep focus series requires more attention than your average TV drama, depicting a world encased in its own unique language and code of ethics. Still, those prepared to saddle up to its complex array of characters and alliances (from jockeys, to horse trainers, to professional gamblers, and shady businessmen) will be justly rewarded. NB: Although earmarked for further seasons, the series was cancelled after its first season due to several accidental horse deaths during production.
