Aro Favourite Grand Budapest Hotel, The

USA 2014, 100 minutes
Dir. Wes Anderson
Rating: [M]
Genres: Comedy

Topics: Period 1930s.

“A captivating 1930s-set caper whose innumerable surface pleasures might just seduce you into overlooking its sly intelligence and depth of feeling.”~Variety

Aroview: Dir. Wes Anderson at last marries his quirky, meticulous aesthetic to a marvellously exotic setting and characters to create arguably his finest film to date.

Ralph Fiennes also proves suitably refined and in fine comic form as the owner of a famous Hungarian hotel and his encounters with its many and varied guests in the 1930s, which become the stuff of 'legend' through various time periods.
As usual with Anderson's films, there isn't terribly much narrative tension, and its chucklesome rather than 'funny' but here the visuals spoils and delights of the cast are drop-dead impressive.
