Intimate Strangers
Aroview: Another stylish excursion into suspensful romanticism for dir. Leconte (MONSIEUR HIRE), here premised on a woman's mistaken assumption that she is unveiling her marital troubles to a psychiatrist, when she has (perhaps deliberately?) walked into the office of a straight-laced accountant.
However, the two soon develop a certain ambiguous bond, two lost souls drawn by chance together, each both revealing and concealing their own emotional agendas. Bonnaire in particular delivers a superbly controlled performance, the film teasing out its story and insights with an audience-friendly smoothness.

4 stars (Very Good) A Frenchwoman Anna tells her marital troubles to a man she mistakes for a psychiatrist. Moved and fascinated by her, he doesn't have the courage to confess the truth and the pair form an unusual relationship. An intimate comedy, very worthwhile. ~GenXGirl
