Make Way for Tomorrow (1937): We were surprised at how relevant this film was – compare the current 'Separation', it's a sad business growing old. We were also surprised that it didn't have some schmaltzy happy ending. Definitely a 'two–hanky' job.
Umbrellas of Cherbourg, The (1964): We never tire of this sumptuous, heartbreaking movie with the lovely Denueve
