Harsh Realm (TV Series)
Aroview: A US infantryman (Bairstow), about to be demobilised, is given one last mission - to test a top secret 'virtual reality' training game.
It turns out that a renegade general (O'Quinn) has seized control of the game for his own mysterious ends and Bairstow is assigned to flush him out, by killing him from within the game setting. Entering a world seemingly identical to our own, he finds the general has imposed military rule and he is soon a hunted fugitive.
Originally a successful comic-book, this promising TV adaptation (by X-Files creator Chris Carter) was unfortunately cancelled after only a single season of 9 episodes.

3 stars (Good Enough) Nicely made, but ignores intriguing premise's potential, rapidly becoming a 'this week our heroes...' show. Perks up when O'Quinn or Hayward appear, but it needed Joss Whedon's flair to get the best out of it, and Carter's not that guy. ~HiFi
