Brotherhood of War
Aroview: Deemed as one of the most graphic and violent war films ever made, this tells the story of two South Korean brothers (Bin and Dong-Gun) who fight along different paths when hostilities break out in 1950 with the Communist North.
As the war progresses, Dong-Gun in particular undergoes a radical change, from being the conscientious sibling to a homocidal and expert 'killing machine', put to work in a series of wrenching action scenes which push the boundaries of visceral carnage into a new screen dimensions. While such aspects are portrayed with burly seriousness, other subplots are geared at the level of soap-opera, making for a curiously compelling mix of action and slushiness.

3 stars (Good Enough) Graphic war film with a similar visual feel to 'Saving Private Ryan', but a little heavy on the melodrama. Worth a look to see the war from the Korean side, but don't expect anything groundbreaking. ~Tom H
