An Awfully Big Adventure
Aroview: After FOUR WEDDINGS, Hugh Grant and director Newell reteamed for this unlikely follow-up - a bleak backstage comedy charting a young girl's coming-of-age in the 1940's Liverpool theatre scene. Unmistakably British in its evocation of sexual frustration.

0 star (Not rated) My memory of the entire film is somewhat dimmed by time. I'd see it again sometime for the yummy, plummy-voiced Alan Rickman. ~ets
3 stars (Good Enough) It was always going to be watchable because of the casting -Georgina Cates is excellent - but the screenplay falters at times and some of the characters are a little overdone even for the stage. ~Tubbs
