Bhaji On the Beach
Aroview: Warm and energetic comedy joins a mini-bus full of Indian women on a day-trip to Blackpool. The first Asian woman to helm a Brit feature airs many sensitive cultural concerns while the character's (and actresses) seem to relish each moment knowing that their sober reality is never far behind.

4 stars (Very Good) A group of Asian women, aged from sixteen to seventy-five, take a day trip in a minibus to Blackpool. Each has her own tale to tell and in the course of the journey, to resolve. Heart-warming and heart-rending. Intelligent comedy. ~GenXGirl
4 stars (Very Good) Humorous insight into the varied lives of ordinary South Asian women in Britain. A good illustration of how hateful & inappropriate today's anti-immigrant prejudice is. No other film like it - worth seeing. Wellington Film Festival 1994 ~Sandy
