Dear Wendy
Aroview: Pressed from the same pattern as DOGVILLE, this stylised allegory scripted by Lars Von Trier also proffers a tale set in some timeless era of the American past, where a group of mining town lads form a secret appreciation society dedicated to firearms: The Dandies.
Although directed with a lightish touch by Vinterberg (FESTEN), this unmistakeably unravels a caustic critique of America's propensity for gun fetishism and regenerative violence. Created with a richer theatrical backdrop to DOGVILLE, this will reward those who share the agenda, but it does boast some excellent supporting touches and concludes, inevitably, with a spectacular shootout.
