Serenity
Aroview: Thoroughly enjoyable sci-fi romp based upon the cult TV series FIREFLY, in which the ship 'Serenity' cruises a future solar federation of human settlers, living off petty crime and smuggling assignments, before being caught up in a deadly political scandal.
Captain of the vessel is the put-upon Nathan Fillion, who breaks his usual mercenary scruples to assist a psychic commando and her brother, on the run with damaging secret information. Recalling STAR WARS' free-running blend of action, drama and sardonic humour, this handles its story with unusual deftness, working in unfussy CGI f/x and a thoughfully-devised story backdrop.

4 stars (Very Good) A feature-length reboot of the single-season TV series Firefly, Whedon takes a bigger budget and crafts a great sci-fi tale complete with action, humour, romance, and conspiracy. If you enjoyed the TV show, or JJ Abrams' Star Trek, check this one out. ~Tom H
3 stars (Good Enough) It took a while for the special effects to get going and fire things up. ~Tubbs
