Boccaccio '70
Aroview: Naughty for the time, this all-star portmanteau film is loosely based on updated versions of the bawdy stories of 14th century writer Giovanni Boccaccio.
Often shown without dir. Monicelli's segment outside of Italy, the filmmakers aimed to capture the earthy vulgarity of the source and succeed commendably. Fellini's 'The Temptation of Dr Antonio' see Anita Ekberg step out from a billboard to torment the titular character. Visconti's 'The Job' has Schneider play a housewife who makes her husband pay for sex. De Sica's 'The Raffle' has a timid man win sex as a prize. Monicelli's 'Renzo and Luciana' is a sex farce set around a young married couple.
