Getting of Wisdom, The

Aroview: An immaculate rendition of Henry Richardson's classic Australian novel set at a Melbourne girls' school in the Victorian era, where a rural newcomer (Blake) strives to win acceptance from her peers, but flails and overplays her way through various dramas. Captures teenage female aspiration and malice in equal measure, although the cloistered atmosphere detracts somewhat.
