Broken Flowers
Aroview: A beguiling middle-age lament starring Bill Murray, unfurled in typical low gear by the world's 'coolest' director, Jim Jarmusch.
Playing an ageing bachelor with a colourful romantic history, Murray receives an anonymous letter about a son he's never met, prompting him to (reluctantly) embark on a road trip to visit his 'old flames'. This cues a series of vignettes featuring a range of maturing, high profile leading ladies (Stone, Lange, Swinton). Like most Jarmusch fare, this plays it cool, distant, and not quite articulated.
