New Police Story

Aroview: A groundbreaking fourth (or possibly fifth) entry in Jackie Chan's martial arts series about the life of a reckless Hong Kong policeman, here portrayed as a washed-up alcoholic who sobers up to track the youth gang who ripped apart his life on a cop-killing spree.

Packed with nicely arrogant villains (they have profited by depicting their murderous exploits in a new computer game), the overall tone is newly gritty and melodramatic, while still seasoned with occasional dollops of broad humour. Overall, an excellent outing for fans and an interesting swerve into darker territory for Chan.
