Aroview: Curiously fascinating Hollywood DV drama in which Naomi Watts plays a aspiring actress in Los Angeles, born out of 2001 short film made before Watts had achieved stardom with MULHOLLAND DRIVE, playing an aspiring actress in Los Angeles...
Undergoing the tribulations of low-level auditions, incompetent producer interviews and soft-core sex roles, Watts is impressively desperate and accomodating, more so considering a personal life which is likewise failing to live up to expectations. Although too drawn-out to be fully satisfying, dir. Coffey's ground-level perspective render this accurate (and scary) enough to impress.
