Evil Aliens

Aroview: Riotous horror-comedy in the shamelessly low-rent tradition of BAD TASTE, in which a tabloid TV presenter gathers up her film crew to investigate nasty reports of anal molestation by aliens on a remote Welsh island.

Although the tone is a little too broad and spoofy at the start, dir. West soon transforms the story into a skillful exercise in unlikely gore concepts (flying eyeballs etc.) as the human characters attempt to defend themselves from the attentions of E.T.s determined to carry out necessary scientific experiments. Despite (or perhaps because of) some leaden dialogue and cheap gags, this triumphantly fulfils the mission of reviving the slightly nasty of spirit of genuine 1980s 'splatter'.
