Rating: [R16]
Genres: Horror, Comedy / Animal Amok, Splatter, Science Slip
Aroview: A slick splatter-comedy in the Kiwi tradition of BAD TASTE, about a herd of rabid, flesh-eating sheep run amok in rural New Zealand.
The novelty, cultural 'in-joke' premise carries it for a good distance, but it later becomes hampered by the stock characters and situations, and misses the true innovation that the genre - and genre-fans - really demand. Still, its a well-executed 'daylight horror', with a few memorable scenes (courtesy of the blokes at Weta fx), and will appeal especially to a pop-corn market not so jaded by blood-and-guts humour.

3 stars (Good Enough) A good black comedy splatter, if losing some of its initial appeal towards the end. Very NZ throughout, and Peter Jackson would be proud. ~Tom H
4 stars (Very Good) Enjoyable, frequently hilarious horror comedy. Although it's stronger on laughs and gloopy gore effects than it is on actual scares, Black Sheep is witty enough to please horror fans in search of an entertaining splatter flick. ~Anon
3 stars (Good Enough) Achieves the right degree of silliness in the script and in the over acting. ~Tubbs
