El Bonaerense
Aroview: An authentically macho tale about the notoriously clannish and corrupt police force of Buenos Aires (members are known as 'el Bonaerense') which follows a naive rural recruit, trying to make good after a lapse of criminal behaviour, into a world of graft, violence and moral mockeries.
With a tone that flits between black humour, absurdism and grimness, this manages a somewhat unique slant on familiar themes, while also opening a window into an arcane and troubling world of law-enforcement in a country recently devestated by economic collapse. Also sporting a few raw sex scenes, young dir. Trapero achieves a certain memorable tawdriness in his sophomore effort.
