aka: Przypadek
Poland 1987, 122 minutes
Dir. Krzysztof Kieslowski
In Polish with English subtitles
Genres: Foreign Cinema, Drama
Feat. Boguslaw Linda
Aroview: In the opening scene a young Polish medical student (Linda) hurries to catch a train departing from Lodz to Warsaw, from which point dir. Kieslowski's wry drama splits into three, presenting a trio of options of what might happen in his life depending on whether he caught or missed the train.
Presenting Kieslowski's first and perhaps boldest dissection of how the lines of fate and coincidence are fatally entangled, this also incorporates a pointed political commentary on life in Communist Poland, which led to it being suppressed in its home country for five years (it was made in 1982).
Average rating (Good Enough). Showing 1-1 of 1 member reviews.
3 stars (Good Enough) The political segments of the screenplay were interesting - more so than those concerning the lead character's personal life - in that they attempted to capture the conflicting issues of the time. ~Tubbs
