Aroview: A hefty star cast congregate for this acclaimed TV adaptation of Larry McMurtry's novel about two former Texas Rangers (Duvall, Jones) who retire to the small town of 'Lonesome Dove' only to be roped back into an epic cattle drive to start a ranch in Montana. With an array of twisty backstories this has the narrative legs to support the epic running-time and, until DEADWOOD perhaps, was the best latterday version of the Western for the small-screen.

Also available: the Lonesome Dove sequels, "Streets Of Laredo" and "Dead Man's Walk"; plus the follow-up mini-series, "Return to Lonesome Dove" (1993, 322 min).
