Aroview: Set in an ancient Japan complete with magical trappings, this action epic posits a forbidden love story between members (Odagiri and Nakama) of two rival clans - inexorably heading toward an all-out mega-battle between superpowered ninjas.

Hugely successful in Japan, this suffers some over-complexity, but action fans will surely find satisfaction with its smooth and increasingly frantic combat scenes, and strongly visualised landscapes of the supernatural. From the novel by Futaro Yamada
