Ringer, The
Aroview: A taboo-fumbling-dodging comedy in which, due to a large outstanding debt, Johnny Knoxville (JACKASS) poses as mentally handicapped and enters the Special Olympics as a pentathlete in order to bet on himself and win.
Produced by the Farrelly brothers (of course), this follows their recent trend of combining bad taste humour with teeth-grinding sentimentality, as Knoxville falls in love and learns to accept and respect the real disabled athletes as full human beings. Although managing some expert pratfalls and cocky one-liners, it is ultimately a rather disappointing exercise in larrikin humour.
