Omen, The

Aroview: A conservative but effective remake of the iconic 1976 horror moving, in which an ambitious diplomat and his wife (Schreiber, Stiles) secretly adopt a baby, who turns out to be 'Damien' - a.k.a. the Anti-Christ.

As he grows, it becomes apparent all is not well with the foster-child, and the family is beset with a series of mysterious deaths, portents and stalkers. Helped along by poker-faced performances by Mia Farrow (as an evil nursemaid) and Pete Postlethwaite (as a suspicious priest), this sports a visual daring which helps relieve some of the inevitable sense of deja vu.
