Sentinel, The

USA 2006, 108 minutes
Dir. Clark Johnson
Genres: Suspense/Crime, Action/Adventure

Topics: Politics.

Aroview: A political conspiracy thriller with plenty of gun-cocked posturing involves veteran secret service agent Michael Douglas, implicated in a suspicious murder, an assassination attempt on the President and indiscretions by the First Lady (Basinger)

On the lam with a former and rather bitter protege Keifer Sutherland on his tail, Douglas must tie up the loose ends for everyone in a complicated, action-packed slice of political paranoia which mainly takes place during a G8 summit in Toronto. Although plotwise this is clearly over-familiar territory, the spiky, jostling presence of Sutherland contrasts effectively with Douglas' more world-weary doggedness, while the visuals have a bustling urgency.
