Incident At Loch Ness
Aroview: Droll and rather odd filmbiz comedy follows the efforts of German auteur Werner Herzog (GRIZZLY MAN) and an inept Hollywood producer, Zak Penn, to collaborate on a documentary about the Loch Ness monster and the culture which has grown up around the legendary creature.
With Herzog and Penn both giving carefully modulated self-parodies at their own expense, this is a fascinating deadpan satire, complete with a bikini-clad 'sonar expert' and a 'crypto-zoologist' (who studies "unknown animals"). Around the halfway mark, there is an unexpected and satisfying lurch into suspense when mysterious events engulf the faltering production, carrying it into BLAIR WITCH territory.
