Rampo Noir
Aroview: Salacious quartet of horror segments all featuring actor Tadanobu Asano, with directing duties taken by four Japanese indie mavericks, crafting arty visions of the sadistic end of human behaviour. Each section is based on a story by Taro Hirai (who wrote under the pseudonym 'Edogawa Rampo' - a pun on 'Edgar Allan Poe'), and all enact some quite original imagery of unpleasantness.
'Mars's Canal': A naked man remembers a violent sexual episode.
'Mirror Hell': A detective must unravel a case of mutilated corpes in a household of women.
'Caterpillar': A perverted wife torments her mutilated war-veteran husband.
'Crawling Bugs': A shy chaffeur's jealousy of his beautiful employer erupts into murder.
