Last Train to Freo
Aroview: Chamber-suspenser begins when two thuggish crims (Budge, LaMarquand) catch the last train of the night from Perth to 'Freo' (Fremantle), with their banter, encounters with other passengers and inevitable bursts of violence being played out in tense 'real time'.
Initially they have their carriage to themselves, but soon an an alluring woman and two others board the train, the twisting narrative revealing that there are interesting connections between the characters. Adapted from a stageplay by Reg Cribb, this is taut and gripping, aided by a heightened visual quality and vivid performances, especially from LaMarquand.
