Americanization of Emily, The
Aroview: Plucky black comedy with James Garner as the scapegoat for a wacky US admiral's grand plan to have a American naval officer be the first killed at Normandy. Barbed anti-war tirades and a volatile romance between Garner and war-widow Julie Andrews follow. Top draw script (from the writer of NETWORK) is both a satirical and scabrous riot.

2 stars (Good Try) The mixture of romance and black comedy doesn't meld in this instance but the black comedy aspect is worth watching. ~Tubbs
2 stars (Good Try) Enjoyable enough, but it's a bit clunky & the sexism hasn't aged well. ~Truant
