Groomsmen, The
Aroview: An earnest buddy comedy for writer-director Edward Burns that triples as a reunion film and a pre-wedding jitters piece, with Ed playing a Long Island husband and father-to-be who gets cold feet in the lead-up to his marriage to fiancée Brittany Murphy.
Surprising poignant in parts, this defies expectation particularly as a mature and uncomplicated perspective on men and their families, where pre-midlife crises are allowed to evolve (and be resolved) realistically and with comforting familiarity. Though treading common ground, Burns displays some maturity of his own in this commendable effort.
