Merchant of Venice, The

Aroview: Al Pacino seems at home in the Bard’s world compared to his more recent contemporary forays, turning in a thorough and morally ambiguous rendition of infamous moneylender Shylock in this latest big screen adaptation of Shakespeare’s great play. Lush production values and a suitably thespian cast offset the film’s otherwise strong anti-Semitic flavour.
