Aroview: Scream queen Sarah Michelle Gellar is plagued by spectral visions en route to her Texan hometown in this mildly effective, slow burn ghost story.

As Buffy’s hallucinations turn increasingly disturbed, the film introduces sinister strangers and an eerie small-town milieu as roadblocks in her quest to exorcise demons from the past. Dir. Kapadia (THE WARRIOR) lends a higher craft to the shadowy images and some requisite ‘boo’ moments; elsewhere though, this remains frustratingly wholesale in supernatural creeps, while doesn’t so much as build tension, as deflates it through an erratic sense of dream/reality alternation.
